In India still exist remainders of literary, and in the first line architectural, evidence of medieval Indian tantra. Tantra is a way of life the aim of which is that women and men live in great authentic freedom. By authentic I mean that everybody lives according to her or his innate character. Such a tantrika tryes to understand the difference between the innate and the achieved character. Once you can clearly see this difference, life becomes much easier.
Tantraīs aim is to to keep as low as possible all dogmas, rules and constraints that are compulsory in most societies and religions. In this book I will spend with the reader a phantasy journey into a small aspect of ancient tantric life, and we shall use witnesses to be experienced on and in the temples at Khajuraho. However, historically seen this journey is mostly fictitive and is laid in a distant time, in the Indian middle ages. And it is only a small section of ancient tantric life.
The conditions of this journey are the medieval Indian state Jejaka-bhukti and her spiritual capital Khajuraho and its temples and ancient statues on one side, and a modernized conception of tantra on the other a tantra as it could be lived in these days with the aim to prepare the ground for us human beings for more freedom and clearness in mind and emotions. I write this text with the hope in mind that a modernized tantra (Neo-Tantra) may help humanity to find a way out of the current problems.
This phantasy journey leads us to two of the 20 odd temples. But before we enter the inner of a temple to celebrate a devotional ritual (puja) in front of the divine symbol, we get the opportunity to cleanse our souls. To this end both, ancient and new tantra know effective spirito-therapeutical devices you will see.
Everybody who would like to contribute to my report and story is welcome to write to me at my address. I am less interested in technical and historical additions than in personal experiences.
I am thankful to my spiritual Master, OSHO RAJNEESH (who lived part of his childhood in Khajuraho) who has opened my eyes for ancient and modern tantra. And I am thankful to all those medieval artists who have created those temples from the depths of their souls.
